I used the natural colored hemp, matching round beads, and the shells. I think it came out lovely. It closes w/ a loop and bead. From loop to bead, this measures approx 15.75" long. The shell flower is approx 2.24"w x 2"h.

Made for a friend at her request. :)

Measurements are around 14"h x 4"d x 18"w. Four large pockets in the inside, removable bottom w/ washable cover, feet on the bottom of the bag. And a removable padded shoulder strap cover.

I double stitched all the seams for strength, and reinforced the top of the pockets w/ bar tacks.

Playing Catch Up

I started cutting out for one of the bday outfits using this pattern:

I'm making the view w/ the pants. I'm using Pittsburgh Steelers fabric for the main part of the top and red for the pants and contrast on the top. :)

I'm also making a pinafore jumper for my DD for school in the fall. Using this tutorial from craftster. I know it's for an adult, but the tutorial is designed to use measurements, so any size will work. :) I'm using some Macdonald's Farm fabric in my stash, perfect for my soon to be kindergartener. Long Time, No Blog

Haven't been posting much these last 2 wks. But I haven't been getting much done either.
I did crochet a tiny Easter basket using this pattern. And I'm working on a recon for my DD. Anything else?...nope not really. I realize I need to get going on making a muslin for my swimsuit, since my Dh got our hottub started on Saturday. Spring will be here soon. Went out the other day and got materials to make two outfits for two different babes, for their bdays. Both in May.

Drawing Binder Cover

This is what I made for Ds's friend's bday thats on sunday.I was told he likes to draw.

Holds 10 colored pencils and two pencils. fits on a 1" binder. Has a pocket on the inside right. I added a bunch of blank paper and lined paper, and put a divider inbetween that says "My Stories".
Hope its well received. :cheerful:

I'm working on a Skipping Stones Afghan just to use up this big ball of acrylic mystery yarn my nana gave me. It calls for a chunky yarn or two strands of worsted held together, but thats not an option for me. So I'm using an I hook, and will just do more repeats to make it size.

Also, working on a Binder Cover for my son's friend's bday. Making w/ Transformers fabric. Hoping to finish up today.

I think thats it for right now. :)

Edit: I have finished the Binder Cover! Pics to come later or tomorrow. :D

Blossom Hat (Child Sized)

The flower on top is crocheted, as well as the edging. And the body of the hat is knit. I've been working and not working on this since Oct '07. Oops, but I was using a too long circ needle, and finally got the right size one last week. :D

Ain't that awesome! Well, I do anyway. And I decided to make my own version of it. Using some recycled jean and some vintage fabric that was given to me by a relative (who is no longer w/ us btw). Depending on the weather situation aka depending if my dh goes to work tomorrow, I'll work on this. :D

Dino Baby Shower Gift

This was my first at both patterns.
The sleep sack is flannel on the inside and outside. The orange that you see is just a contrast for the look, it stops under the arms and the rest is the dino flannel.
The onesie was my very first. I used my machine's buttonhole applique stitch for the applique.

Do you think she'll like it?

We don't know each other, but I felt the need to make a baby set. :D

Update on baby gift

Well I'm done w/ the sleep sack. And finally printed out some tags for my items. :) I'm almost done w/ the onesie, need to sew the side seams and bind the bottom and put on the snaps.

I also think I'll be making a baby set for a fundraiser/chinese auction for a local mom whose doing an Autism benefit. I have to hear back from her though. :)

My grandfather's church (well i used to go to it a few years ago) is having a little baby shower for a girl there due at the end of the month. I saw the invite on his desk, and I offered to make something for her.

So I have planned a Sleep Sack and matching onesie , using my Ottobre 5/06 issue.

Fabrics are: This Dino Flannel & the solid orange knit from the Camo Tee.

Zipper Mp3 Carry-All

Made this today to carry my new mp3 player, usb cord, and earphones.the strap fits around my wrist, if i so fancy to do so.you don't see my earphones in there yet, cause they haven't arrived off of ebay. :D

If your wondering, my mp3 player is tiny, it's like the ipods that clip on your clothes, only its not an ipod. :)

Orange Camo Tee 4 Me!

I made a pattern off of a comfy (but stained) RTW shirt I have. It was my first attempt using my pattern, I like it. Love the way the sleeve & neckline binding looks. The orange knit is pretty see through, so I'm wearing a tank under it. Looks like I'll have to find a white or orange cami to wear under it.

First - Vintage 1972 Simplicity 5027

I've been looking for a great swimsuit pattern for me, because I AM going to be thinner this summer!! I saw this on ebay, but thank god I didn't buy it. I googled the pattern # out of curiosity and found this seller on Etsy . She was SO much better priced then the one of ebay, and same size too! Yah for google, lol. Now I just have to find some sexy swimsuit material.

Second - Kwik Sew 1166

This was a whim buy from the same seller, I just love the little babydoll pj's! It's already cut to a size 4, but I can size it up, no problem. :)

Floral Sheer Undies

They are made from a cheap sheer knit that I've had in my stash for at least a year. The bindings are made from white knit, the white knit is also used in the crotch area.
These were a trial version, and I need to make some mods. You'll prob see another pair soon. lol.

Simpson Shirt Recon - Finished

Made a pattern from a RTW shirt I love, and made this top w/ the Simpsons tee and an old pink tee I had on my scrap pile.

Serged seams, neck binding, added a size tag, and added decorative edging to the sleeves.

Cute Patchy V2980 - Almost Finished

I sewed it up, and it is super cute! It actually fits me though, lol, except for my belly roll showing, but oh well. Yes, I still made a size E, but I used 1/4" seam allowance instead of the called for 5/8". So thats why it actually fits me. It looks like I'll have to tack the front a bit, since my bra straps show. I have to hem the bottom yet, and it's done. :)

Girl's Sweater - Started

I started on the girl's sweater I posted about yesterday. And here's my progress:

I've been writting it down as I go, so I can do it exactly the same for the other side.

After I'm done w/ both sides, I'm going to seam from the top to the arms where I stopped, then put the stitches back on the needles and keep knitting the rest of the sleeves. :) I know I'm going to have to buy another skien to finish it though.

Girly Sweater

I found this cute sweater ! I so want to make one for my 5yr old.

I'll use Red Heart Cherry Chip yarn. My fav right now.

I realized that I just can't make it like her pattern. Not possible w/o two circs. So I'm writing it down as I go. It will look like that sweater but won't be constructed like that sweater. oh well, this will be my first pattern. lol.

Ribbing will be in Aran color and the body will be in the Cherry Chip color.

Stay tuned for an update on the sweater tomorrow. :)

1st Sewing of '08: continued

I started sewing it up now, using my serger on the seams, and my reg sewing machine for topstitching. I think it will look cute. It's a pattern from Ottobre Design (link on the right), issue 3/2003. :)

I have now finished the sewing up the sides, and tried it on her. It's a bit big, but thats to be exspected since it's really for this coming fall, and we're only in January. Next up, the hood. :)

1st Sewing of '08

It's now 1/07/08, I finally am getting ready to sew again since....oh idk....before christmas.

I'm making my 5yr old daughter a Hannah Montana hoodie for when she starts Kindergarten in the fall.

This is the fabric I'm using:

It's fleece, I was using it to make some scarves for kids for christmas. I didn't have enough for the whole shirt, so I got a tad creative, wait til you see! :D
